Is this a Toothpick or a food skewer? Small arguement between me and the wife

Does anyone have any clue what this is? A house built around 1910 had it painted on the concrete floor of the basement. A pathway leading to it from the stairs was also painted on the basement floor in similar colors.

This tool with a hand crank, hook and a sort of foot base has us beat. Even old timers don't recognize it although it does seem old. Any ideas?

I moved in this house in florida a couple of years ago and we have this berry bush tree that we are not sure of the berry type, they eventually turn a bright purple when they are ripe and their actually very good to eat. They also bloom pretty muc...

I took this photo on a pond on our property, seconds after it went underwater and did not come back up. I think it was a duck, my husband thinks different. Anyone have any other ideas?
