kitchen utensil ?Description:I have had this for years, got it at a garage sale. Is this some kind of a whipper divice? It is 7 and a half inches long and 2 and a half inches wide. When you squeeze the center the spiral end opens. Comments:

Looks like a tea infuser. You open the cup-like portion, scoop up some loose tea or herbs, and then let it close. Put the whole closed thing into a cup or mug, and pour boiling water in. Swirl around. Let steep for 5 minutes or so. Swirl around again. Then remove. Voila. Tea, without lots of floating bits.

I'm not so sure it's a tea difuser because it doen't open up, it's more like a slinkey when you squeeze the center, the end is more like a coiled spring.

i think is to grab eggs.

Not for eggs, the max opening between the spirals when squeezed open is only 1/4 inch.

It's for dusting flour when baking, etc.

THANK YOU. This solves a great mystery for me. My quest is over.

Opens up more like a slinky....
Thanks, jdefontes! I haven't seen one of these for many decades, but you're right. Thanks for the reminders of my grandmother's kitchen!
