Can't tell you what it is. But you might want to let us know roughly what part of world you are in. It's not impossible that it is some kind of clematis, but it could be other things. Without knowing where you are, it's difficult.... Nothing is growing here at all. We're due for yet another snowstorm tonight. Linda

I don't know where you live, but since you found it in your garden and it is a vine, i would say that it is Honeysuckle. If it is,you better get it all out of your garden, because it will take over.It smells real good when it blooms, but there is a place for Honeysuckle like a trellis or the back fence.

I have Honeysuckle all over my place (unfortunately), and it looks just like that. Chatterbug is right, get rid of it before it's too late.

The leaves are ok for that, but I have had a number of different honeysuckles, including some of the nasty invasives, and I have never seen one climbing like that before, twining round a pole, or tree, or stump, or whatever. They have all been more shrubby and sprawling, but not twining. Have I just been lucky?

Honeysuckles are arching shrubs or twining vines http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeysuckle I have both and some of the twining ones can get quite large but respond well to pruning. Let it grow for a season and see what it does.
