Icons on the Nokia N95 8GB

Description:

This is a screendump from the Nokia N95 8gb. I wonder what the icons inside the red square is, and most importantly, how to remove them. They appeared out of nowhere. When clicked, I get to the internet-sharing screen. Thanks a lot.

I noticed that the part of the Norwegian version of the Nokia website where you should be able to download the manual for your phone (the 8GB edition), doesn't work. However, I went to the official (Finnish) version http://www.nokia.fi/link?cid=PLAIN_TEXT_795857, and downloaded the manual in English. If you replace the "en" (for English) in the PDF's filename by "no" (for Norwegian), you'll get the manual in your own language: http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia_N95-2_8GB_UG_no.pdf I'd think it should be described somewhere in there..

JanJaap, thanks a lot for your suggestion - I'm also impressed that you identified my language. :) Unfortunatly, these icons are not mentioned one single place in the manual. I've not seen them on anyone elses screendump of this phone either. They have no function as far as I can see, but I'm not able to remove them...

Eisim, I found the same icons on the home screen of my N95-1; it's from the "Share Online" application, and unfortunately, I can't find a way to turn them off. The link is fairly useful if you use Flickr, Ovi, or Vox, but otherwise, it's pointless. =P Here's a link to info on the application: http://www.nokia.com/betalabs/shareonline ...and more info here: http://europe.nokia.com/sharingandblogging If you installed this from an .SIS file instead of from a firmware update, you should be able to hard-reset your phone to get rid of it: 1) Backup your phone 2) Type *#7370# from the standby screen 3) Type your security code (probably 12345) That will restore to factory settings, and possibly remove Share Online 3.0. Hope that helps!

Where did you get that theme, by the way? It looks very nice. =)

willwm, thanks a lot for great suggestion! i believe the share online-app is built in with this model, i can't remember that i've installed it.. but i will in any case try to hard-reset my phone. problem now is that the content copier on my nus does not work properly.. the theme is the default theme - it's called "nokia nseries 1" - exciting! ;) i believe it's this one: http://tinyurl.com/27n52w thanks again for great suggestion!!!
