rabbit cage

Description:

I just built this rabbit hutch out of douglas fir and plywood for my daughters rabbit. I would like to paint or at least seal it so it doesn't get ruined outside. After reading several different posts on the net, i'm confused as to what to use, if anything is safe at all. The posts range from saying that plain ol paint is ok, to do not use anything at all around the rabbits. Does anyone know the correct answer?

Dont. Rabbits chew constantly on any wood they get to, including their own cage. Don't put anything on it that you wouldn't eat yourself. That's a good rule for anything you give your rabbit.
